Localization is a collaborate exhibition by the Kunstfonds and the Kulturhistorisches Museum in Görlitz. It takes place on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the Kulturstiftung des Freistaates Sachsen (Cultural Foundation of the Free State of Saxony) and at the same time opens the third floor of the Kaisertrutz in Görlitz as a new exhibition space.
On view is a broad selection of works from the supportive acquisitions of the Cultural Foundation. The exhibition gives an overview on important positions of contemporary art in Saxony and acknowledges the foundation’s work that has annually been purchasing contemporary art for the collection of the Kunstfonds within the scope of its culture and art promotion.
The exhibition focusses on main themes that could have been recognized among the new acquisitions in the past years, just as it gives an impression of the diversity of contemporary artistic forms of expression in and outside of Saxony. For the exhibition Localization about 60 works from the genres of painting, graphic arts, sculpture, photography, installation and video art from the Kunstfonds’ holdings were selected. Special attention was paid to works from artists from Görlitz or Lusatia.
