“Vor Ihnen, das Meer - resp. der Asphalt, die Schäden…” New Acquisitions by the Kunstfonds from the Purchases of the Kulturstiftung des Freistaates Sachsen

Every year, the Kulturstiftung des Freistaates Sachsen provides support to young artists who are associated with Saxony through their apprenticeship at Saxon art universities or through their work with Saxony. Thanks to this commitment, the Kunstfonds has been able to expand an extensive and continually growing collection of contemporary art since 1992. In 2015, 38 works by 27 artists made it into the collection.

A selection from this will be shown in spring 2016 in a presentation in the building of the former school of arts and crafts located on Güntzstraße, whose facilities are today used, among others, by the Hochschule für Bildende Künste Dresden. From the new acquisitions in 2015, a year that has included many works which are politically engaging and critical of society, works by artists including Angelika Wanieck, Henrike Naumann, Susanne Keichel, Andreas Schulze, Andrzej Steinbach and Martin Reich will be available for viewing.
